Julie Alice Chappell used her smart to squish something with a slipper. This is unfortunate truth, but she looked at it from a different perspective in order to make computer component bugs. That is, it leads to create the name of a series of sculptures from recycled computer and electronics components. This is said by Julie Alice Chappell “With all their tiny components, complex circuitry and bright metallic colours I cannot help but compare them to the detailed patterns we see when we look at nature up close”. Indeed, circuit boards are cut, wire is shaped, and as result
it is a bug with recycled bug and art associated with friendly environment.
Note that the environmental message is always the front and center in her works. This is written by her word “My collection highlights the dangers of planned obsolescence and the ever-increasing amounts of e-waste in the environment. This is perpetuated by advances in technologies and our ever growing dependence on modern gadgets”. In order to get the materials for the sculptures reflect this fact, she tried to find computers and electronics just discarded all over the place. So, the result provides her work with amazing and interesting discarded computers and electronics as seen below.
